The Island Behind Maestro in Blue!💙

We fell in love too...

Î Î±ÎŸÎżÎŻ - Paxos Island

Hi traveler!

Maestro in Blue season 2 is out now and if you’re anything like me you’re already waiting patiently for the second half

If, on the other hand, you have no idea what I’m talking about, I wouldn’t mind putting together some Netflix recommendations. 😉

Maestro in Blue is the first Greek-spoken TV series to hit Netflix, and apart from a thrilling plot it’s also giving us plenty of Greek Island realness.

Honestly, the island’s scenery is giving the plot a run for its money!

So, what’s this little island all about and where can you find it? And (before you ask) YES, it’s even more gorgeous in real life.

Let’s dive in!

Paxos, Paxoi, Antipaxos
How many islands are there really?

Paxos Island

They filmed Netflix’s hit show, Maestro in Blue, mostly on the Ionian island of Paxos (even though the family home is actually near Athens).

You might’ve heard it called Paxi too—that’s the Greek plural for Paxos.

Together, Paxos, Antipaxos, and a few tiny islets make up the smallest of the Ionian Seven.

The geography here is something else. The Aegean has this deep, commanding blue, but the Ionian? It’s got a soft turquoise glow that’s just out of this world. You really have to see it to believe it.

How Do You Get To Paxos?

Paxos Island

You can't fly directly into Paxos since there’s no airport, but don’t see that as a downside.

When island hopping around Greece, the journey is often the best part, and getting there lets you truly appreciate the solitude and authenticity of the island. The easiest way to get to Paxos is by catching a ferry from Corfu or Lefkada.

If you’re coming from the mainland, head to Igoumenitsa. Maestro in Blue has lots of scenes shot in Corfu.

Everything on that island will take you back in time—the architecture, the smells, the nature.

If you decide to stay in Corfu for the amenities or just because you love it, you can book a boat tour of the Paxi islands and spend the day exploring the beautiful beaches.

The Best Maestro in Blue Filming Locations to Visit While in Paxos!

Caves in Paxos Island

This is where our main characters, Orestis and Klelia, meet in the show. The place has it all—a rooftop bar for some romance, stunning architecture for the cultured souls, and a whole lot of character.

It only takes a few seconds of screentime to fall in love with the charming harbor in Gaios town. This spot pops up all the time in the series and is the main playground for the characters. They have drinks, go on walks, and rent scooters when they arrive on the island. You can do exactly the same when you visit!

Tiny Greek villages have this undeniable charm, especially with their neoclassical churches that have stood the test of time. This is where you see the Maestro gathering for rehearsals in the show, and the courtyard here is just captivating.

Spend some time in Greece, and you'll find that hidden viewpoints are prime hangout spots for friends and lovers. This is where Sofia and the doctor had their little chats
and honestly, I don't blame you if you were too busy admiring the view to follow their conversation.

Hope you get to explore this little paradise this summer!
